Silkie Eggs
Aside from their unique plumage, Silkies also possess other unique physical characteristics or traits such as their black skin, bones and grayish to black meat. They are also known to have blue ear lobes and five toes on each foot (the common toe count for chicken is 4).
Silkies are often used for exhibitions or show purposes, but their meat is popularly used for Asian cuisines in Japan, Cambodia, Korea and other parts of Asia. As egg layers, they have been known to produce 100 eggs in a year (ideally).
In terms of temperament, they are considered a calm and friendly breed that can interact fairly well with chickens. When bred with other flocks or breeds, the Silkie is prone to being bullied by other more active or aggressive birds, because of their non-aggressive nature.
