Bantam Eggs
Bantams are naturally small chickens, which originated from South East Asia. Due to the popularity of the breed for their small size, most small poultry are now referred to as Bantams. In fact - many big breeds of chicken have a bantam counterpart which refers to the miniature version of the breed.
The Bantam Chicken is popularly used for show
purposes, because of their striking colors and patterns. They are also
popular for breeders and as pets, because their small size does not
require them to occupy much space and are very suitable for small
backyards.
Although the size of Bantam eggs are only around 1/2 to 1/3 the size of regular hen eggs, they are popular with breeders because of the high survival rate or success in rearing the hatched eggs. Bantam hens also produce a variety of eggs, which is a definite plus for the breeder.
