Americana Eggs
Popular for their blue or slate colored eggs, the Americana (also known as Ameraucana) breed is also known for their quiet and versatile temperament, which allows them to adapt well in confinement. In fact, their wonderful ability to adapt to confinement have earned them the name "Backyard Chickens" among chicken breeders.
The Americana chickens are known for the above average production of blue eggs and are often mistaken for Easter Eggers because of this. Although not as rare as Araucanas, the Ameraucana breed is pretty rare in their own right and have less breeding problems than the Araucanas.
Ameraucana chickens have muffs instead of ear tufts and a beard, which make them an interesting looking breed indeed.
